地下鉄から道路に出ると、この日は何時もと違った雰囲気です。
この道路を渡ってアパートに帰るのですが、歩道に人が一杯で帰れません。
歓迎の楽団、テレビ局や警察官もいて大変な騒ぎです。
That day, I felt different feeling in front of the station which is near my apartment.
Lots of people, police officers, TV camera crews, and band’s members were standing and waiting on the road.
 


実はアレックス・ロドリゲスが角のレストランに来るとの事で皆さん一目見ようと待っていました。
黒塗りのワゴンが到着し、アレックスが降り立つと早速レストランのオーナー？とハグ。
I happened to see Alex Rodriguez at near my apartment.
They were snapping pictures; I decided to take my pictures too.
The police officers were there and they protected him surrounding him, I was very excited.




彼はMLBニューヨーク・ヤンキースの選手（三塁手）で背番号は13、ニックネームはA-Rodだそうです。
全米で契約金1位の選手です。
Nicknamed "A-Rod", he currently plays third base for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, and the uniform number is 13.
In December 2007, Rodriguez and the Yankees agreed to a 10-year, $275 million contract.




来られた理由は定かではありませんが、レストランの中に多くの野球少年がいましたので彼らに会いに来たようです。
I didn't know why he came here.
Perhaps he came to see boys who live for baseball because the boys were waiting in the restaurant.



このレストランの中には多くの野球選手の写真が飾られています。
There are many pictures of baseball players in the restaurant.



何時もは斯くの如く道は空いています。
This sidewalk is not usually crowded.
 

When I got my apartment, I could enjoy all those pictures of R-rad.
That was a special day for me.


そう、以前このレストランに行った時の事です。
ウエートレスさんに料理を注文しようと話し掛けたら通じない？
僕の英語が下手だから？　それは正しいです。
でも一緒に行って頂いたアメリカ人の英語が通じないのです。
このお店のウエートレスさん、スペイン語しか話せないのです。
注文に困っていたら、隣のお客さんが通訳してくれて何とか食事を摂る事が出来ました。
NYCに英語が全く通じないお店があるとは驚き！
美味しいものを安く食べようと思ったらNYCでは英語の他にスペイン語も必要です。
